This Little Piggy no feel so good

Last month, Jeffrey's big piggy on his right toe wasn't doing so good. At dinner, Jeff mentioned his toe was itching so bad when he tried to nap. He said, and I quote, "I wanted to itch it so bad I wanted to put a hole in it." We thought that comment was strange so we took a peek at his toe. Woah, it's really red and swollen. It was a BIG big toe.

It looked worse in person. These pics don't do it much justice.

Jamie had the good idea to ice it and it looked to be not so swollen. Well, a few days went by and a trip to the pediatrician was in order just to be sure it wasn't linked to any problem with his fixator leg.
Our pediatrician erred on the side of caution and sent Jamie with Jeffrey to Baltimore. It turns out it was only an infection. Dr. Standard sent the boys home with a ten-day antibiotic.
Luckily, while there (about 4 days before Jeff was due for clinic and xrays) he got his xrays and saw Dr. Standard to  give him the go-ahead to RUN and JUMP!!! That's all Jeffrey needed to hear.
His bone has been given the thumbs up for healing. Here is his xray with the rod in his femur.
Still a .6cm discrepancy. But, it's better than a 6.4cm one!

The toe has gotten much better. It's still a little red so we started another round of antibiotics because the bottom was very swollen. Both times, the meds caused the toe to shrivel up a little. That means it's healing. (...so I was told)
(Pay no mind to the mangled toe nail :)

Just one of the little bumps since the fixator was removed...
Wait, speaking of bumps...
Since then, Jeffrey also bumped his shin. His middle Tibial pinsite hit my sister's boot while he was being silly and he screamed in agony. When we looked at his leg we saw an egg at that site so of course we applied ice. It took a few days for the swelling to go down where we weren't super concerned. Of course, I e-mailed the "bump" picture to Baltimore to get some feedback. It's probably just swollen scar tissue at the pinsite. Uh, let's really hope that's all it is!

We go back in April for our next clinic visit. Have yet to make the appointment. Will keep ya posted.
